Our Partners Naomi and Stuart* who delight in helping others connect with people from different cultural backgrounds, have reflected on the Bible’s account of God intentionally creating different ethnic groups in early history.
From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands.
Acts 17:26
Based in Europe, this couple explains how our societies have become increasingly multicultural due to the recent and unprecedented movement of migrants and refugees across the globe.
While there is a new challenge in forming cohesive communities, they see this as an opportunity for organisations, churches, and other groups to be actively involved in welcoming and supporting people from other cultures.
Cultural diversity is another expression of God’s good and creative intentions from the beginning.
They reflect, “We must be ready to respond when the need arises. It is a great privilege to be part of God’s response to this ever-changing world. We want to help people celebrate the richness of culture and become welcomers of people from other cultures.” More recently, they travelled to Germany, where millions of refugees have been granted asylum, to work in a Peace House set up specifically to make refugees feel welcome.
