Ka Karangatia e te Atua —
Called by God, Sent with Purpose
What is missions?
The intentional effort to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and demonstrate His love, often by stepping into new cultures, communities, or contexts. It’s about living out the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20), where Jesus calls His followers to “go and make disciples of all nations.”
Missions is not just for pastors or ministry workers.
It’s for every believer, no matter their profession or skills.
Who are we?

Interserve is an international community of disciples of Jesus Christ who share the calling to join God’s redeeming and reconciling work in all of creation.
Te Riu Whakaoreore speaks of the hull of an ocean-going waka journeying to far-off and challenging places, seeking to awaken and mobilise others, attuned to the Spirit of God.
Missions in Everyday Life…
Missions isn’t limited to preaching or church planting.
It’s about serving others and using your God-given talents to meet both spiritual and practical needs.
Being a missionary doesn’t always mean leaving your job behind—it can mean taking your job with you.
It’s about using your skills and expertise to serve God and others, turning your work into a ministry.
Examples of Missions Through Professions:
Entrepreneurs
Starting businesses abroad to provide jobs and build relationships that open doors to discipleship.
Teachers
Educating in schools where children lack opportunities and mentoring students.
Medical
Bringing physical healing in underserved areas, sharing Christ’s compassion.
Engineers
Designing clean water systems or buildings in communities that need sustainable development.
Artists
Using creative gifts to inspire and share the message of hope and faith in culturally relevant ways.
